We are so excited to announce that we have 16 groups signed up for
the final event! We will be publishing a list of the championed books shortly, and
we are so pleased it includes a wide range of topics, with students
representing almost every division in Grade 6/7!
And the latest tally of our classroom reading competition between all
the grades 4/5 and 6/7 students is in! Division 14F is in the lead for the
Grade 4/5’s with 258 books read, and division 20F is in the lead for the Grade
6/7’s with 88 books read! Way to go! We will be doing a FINAL tally on
Friday, April 28th before morning recess, so KEEP READING! There has been
some great enthusiasm among the students, so we are feeling very excited about announcing
the winners at the final event on May 1st!
Please find all reading lists HERE,
separated by grade tabs.
For logistical reasons, we are unable
to track grade K-3 progress for prizes at this time, but look forward to
welcoming those students to participate once they reach grade 4! We invite
parents to print a copy of the K-3 list and follow along as your children
discover these wonderful titles!
Ask your children to tell you more
about Hastings Reads and let's talk about books!!

Hello Hastings parents and caregivers!
Hopefully your kids have come home excitedly
showing you their cool new Hastings Reads! bookmark and told you about the
great books the school is showcasing from our very successful diversity Book
Drive! The Hastings Reads subcommittee thought families might like to check out
some of the titles themselves, to read along and encourage their children!
All grade 4-7 students have been
given reading lists, and all K-3 students are being read to by our school
librarian, Chris Donegan. A display in the library features some of the titles
for students to check out on their own, and all the titles are also available
at the Vancouver Public Library, many in various formats including, ebooks and
audiobooks.

**Prizes will be awarded to the
students and classrooms from grades 4-7 that read the MOST BOOKS! Winners announced at a special final event on Monday, May 1st in the gym! Stay tuned
for more info in the coming weeks!**
